Why did you enter the financial services industry?

One of the elements of my 10 year Air Force career that made me most proud was the thought that I was helping to protect people that couldn’t (or wouldn’t) protect themselves. Getting into the financial services area, I was able to utilize my analytical talents to serve people and help them understand a complex subject impacting their future. Too often, people are unprepared for the future, due to a failure to plan.

Tell me more about your educational background and accreditations/licenses in your field of expertise?

I have a Bachelor’s degree as well as an MBA in Business Administration from Grantham University that I obtained while working on full-time active duty in the United States Air Force. I hold a FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 license allowing me to act as a fiduciary financial advisor. I have also held a Florida 2-15 Life and Health insurance license for the past 7 years, helping people protect their finances from unexpected medical expenses and minimizing health expenses in retirement.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love figuring out how all of the puzzle pieces that clients bring me can fit together to make a beautiful picture of their financial future. It’s very challenging work, and every client is different, so each financial plan becomes a unique experience.

What does a typical day in your job look like?

Usually, I am up early to get my kids off to school in the morning, and then I jump straight into the office to answer emails and finish any leftover paperwork from the night before. I read a lot of articles related to the latest market news before the stock market opens at 9:30 AM, then I monitor it throughout the day. In the morning, I usually focus on client emails and service needs. I try to spend my lunch hour with someone (either networking or prospects) and then I work in the afternoon to put proposals together and review new products and investment opportunities in the market. I am always striving for excellence, which means continually looking for the best options for new and existing clients. After I pick up the kids from school, I try to spend a little time with them, so I usually call it quits for the day around 6:30 PM and enjoy a little downtime, but I keep my phone on just in case.

How do you think colleagues would describe you?

Colleagues would describe me as a passionate advocate for my clients and a strong proponent of client education.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…

At Centerpoint Church in Valrico. I might also be at the park/playground with my kids, or in front of the computer double-checking my fantasy football lineup. It’s also possible that I might be sleeping, but with 3 kids and a dog, this is the least likely. ;-)
